Hello from Georgetown
Hello from Georgetown!
We've been in Malaysia for over 10 days now, and it's been an amazing journey! We started off with three nights in Kuala Lumpur to catch up on sleep and get into the rhythm of things.
Now, we're in Georgetown, Penang, and we're really loving it here. This city is so incredibly diverse. Our place is right in the middle of Little India, and from our rooftop, we can see the incredible mix of cultures and religions all around us. There’s an Indian mosque, Chinese Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Christian churches all within view. The call to prayer sounds five times a day—it’s a truly special and incredibly diverse area to be staying in.
Across the street, we've been making friends at the local shops. One of the cashiers even stops what she is doing just to see baby Ruth and carry her around the store to engage her friends. Jeremiah has been excited to learn the names of the waiters at the restaurant and it's a real blessing when they light up knowing we see them and know there names. It’s a great reminder that no matter where you go, a place feels like home because of the people and the relationships you build—and those are the relationships you'll always remember.
We've been spending time at our regular ministry spot—a drop-in center for homeless people in the area. It's been great to connect and engage with people there, and we've even been able to do some ministry with refugees. Yesterday was a fun adventure too! We went to a public park here in Georgetown that has swimming pools, wild monkeys, and even wild monitor lizards. It's been a really wonderful experience so far.
