The Almighty's Ongoing Conversation (From a Raised Hand to a Ministry Launched)
Hola amigos!
If you're reading this, it's likely because of your love for our family, and for that, we are so thankful! We've talked about starting a newsletter for years, and with so much to share and celebrate, we can’t put it off any longer.
As I write this, I’m sitting in Phuket, Thailand. Being here has deep and special meaning for our family and our faith. Yesterday, Britt and I visited Phuket Christian Centre (PCC). Twenty years ago, this was the place where Britt was introduced to Jesus.I still remember it. During an altar call, the pastor asked anyone who wanted to know more about Jesus to raise a hand while everyone else kept their heads bowed and eyes closed. Typically, Britt would be downtown shopping while I was at church, but not that day. She describes feeling no conscious desire to know God, yet she felt her hand go up involuntarily. A woman in the congregation approached her, but Britt felt a bit weirded out and only engaged enough to be polite. But in that moment, an introduction began with The Almighty, and in its time, that conversation would change everything.
Britt’s faith journey wasn't the only big thing that happened through our season at PCC all those years ago. We were greatly impacted by the international body of Christ and its unique expressions of faith. In fact, our transition out of our community and life in Ohio was driven by a desire to connect and serve the global church—our true language was not "missions work," but being invited to engage discipleship internationally. In more ways than one, God used Phuket and the believers at PCC to instill the fundamental ideas of how we could serve Him, though we had no idea what was starting then.
India: Hard Work and Heart Work
Fast forward to today: we are in Thailand to rest and reflect after our family’s first outreach into India. While home in Ohio this summer, we met a couple (Simon and Johanna) who shared about God’s work in India, particularly on the precious value of life in the womb and bringing truth to conquer the lies that lead to abortion. They were preparing for their 10th pro-life summit, and since we already had plans to be in Asia, we felt this was a great opportunity to connect and serve.
We inquired about the possibility of offering testimony on God’s goodness, healing, and forgiveness for those who have lost a child to abortion—a ministry we have engaged in before. Johannah was thrilled and asked if we could also lead a workshop to equip local believers to launch and lead Abortion Recovery Ministries. We were so blessed by this vision to multiply the message! Britt immediately got to work and developed an excellent plan to mobilize ministers in this way.
We prayed that through the summit, 3 people would commit to launching ministries in their own congregations, and that at least one person would respond to Christ’s invitation for healing and forgiveness. God answered those prayers and more! We now have 5 people we’ll be connecting with weekly to support as they prepare to begin their ministries in January 2026. And yes, one person has already brought their sin of abortion to the cross, finding greater and deeper peace in Jesus.
Going to India was hard work, heart work, and a faith-building experience. We had perceived India as too foreign for our family, but the opportunity to be a part of how the LORD is sharing truth and love there was enough to move us past our fears. We faced opposition, including concerns over gaining entry and a visa mistake that caused a flight delay and lost hotel stay. But God is good, and through that delay, I was able to contemplate some life-giving truths, which brought great blessing.
What’s Next: Singapore Conference
Now, we are preparing to attend Heartbeat International’s Pan-Asian Conference. We’ve already connected with a few attendees and are excited to meet more and discuss possibilities for working together in the upcoming season. We’ll bring more updates as we have them.
Praises and Prayer Requests
Here are some immediate needs and thanksgivings:
Praise God:
Good Health: We have all remained healthy enough to maintain our routines throughout our six weeks in Asia. In the past, we've struggled with illness in new places, so this is a huge praise!
Ministry Connections: We are getting incredible ministry equipment opportunities and making relationships with workers from all over the globe!
Pray for:
The Sufficiency of Jesus: Living out of suitcases for the last 3.5 months has been challenging. We desire a space to settle, build friendships, do ministry, and see the kids making friends and all of us being part of a local church. Pray that the desire for these good things would not steal the peace and joy the LORD has for us today. Pray we’d be present with each other, sensitive to the day’s ministry, and thankful.
Focus and Trust: Pray that we’d focus on and do the work we have to offer the kingdom, and that we’d trust God with the results. We have so much to do, but the outcomes are up to Him.
Financial Provision: We will be spending 3–6 more months on outreach in Asia. We are asking the LORD to direct the hearts of those who love us to help with our needs by supporting us monthly. The GiveSendGo link below makes giving with a credit card very quick and easy, or you can use Venmo @Jeremiah-Pocock.
The biggest thing you can do is continue to love us through your prayers and by sending us words of encouragement. We are super thankful for your time reading this and for the LORD putting us on your hearts!
